Harris House is the outdoor centre of William Hulme's Grammar School and is looked after by the J.G. Bird Trust which is a registered charity.
It is situated on the edge of the hamlet of Hardraw which has a cafe with crafts, a felt studio and gallery and an inn.  2 miles away the local town of Hawes has a good selection of shops.

Harris House occupies the old village school with headteacher's house attached .  It is a Grade II listed building, built in 1875 using attractive dales stone with recent alterations in the same style.  Ample parking is available in the "Playground"

Where is it?

Harris House is located in the hamlet of Hardraw near the market town of Hawes, Wensleydale, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The nearest towns - Sedburgh, Settle, Leyburn - are about 15 miles away.
Although the A684 runs within a mile of Hardraw, giving easy access by road, the amount of traffic on the B road through the hamlet is very limited creating a peaceful haven.  Garsdale rail station on the Settle - Carlisle railway is only 8 miles away.

The stone buildings, barns and walls combine with the lush green pastures to give a broad valley of unique character even within the Yorkshire Dales.
